MUSIC VIDEO PRODUCTION

[ introduction ] [ curriculum ] [ schedule ] [ sample schedule ] [ sample films ]

SOCAPA's Music Video Production workshop is closely tied to our Filmmaking and Urban Dance programs. Our Music Video students share many of the same classes with the Filmmaking students, including Directing, Cinematography, and Digital Editing. However, instead of taking "Acting" and "Directing Actors" classes as the Filmmakers do, our Music Video students take specific classes in Music Video Production and Dance Choreography. Music Video students make two exercise films (same as the Filmmakers), but their final culmination piece is their own Music Video.

Music Video Students are given the unique opportunity to work with students in the Urban Dance program, choreographing dance routines that can serve as part of their music video shoot. The Music Video Directors work with the Urban Dance students much like the Filmmaking Directors work with the students in the Acting for Film Program.

CHOOSE YOUR FORMAT: CHOOSE FILM OR DV - EDIT ON DIGITAL COMPUTER SYSTEMS.

Unlike other film schools, SOCAPA offers the immediate opportunity to learn the most recent digital technologies - students choose to shoot using either 16mm film cameras or state-of-the-art, 3-chip digital cameras with synchronous sound. Regardless of the format, all students edit on non-linear, digital computer systems (Avid & Final Cut Pro).

LEARN FROM THE PROS.

In addition to the daily morning directing classes, and the afternoon focus-oriented classes, SOCAPA students have weekly master classes with visiting lecturers from the New York or Hollywood film world. Accomplished industry professionals give lectures on Producing, Acting for Film & TV, Cinematography, Music Video Production and Directing.

SOCAPA - THE BEST CHOICE.

For the aspiring young artist, SOCAPA is by far the best choice. We offer small classes, teachers with recent and ongoing film-set experience, and instant and constant access to the latest equipment. The full-time teaching staff of SOCAPA includes award-winning filmmakers and experienced educators.
