VENICE BEACH & MARINA DEL REY:
SOCAPA’s Summer Programs in Los Angeles are hosted at Oakwood Marina del Rey, just two blocks from world-famous Venice Beach. Students in the overnight program stay in the complex's two bedroom apartments and eat most of their meals in the clubhouse dining room. Classes are held on-site and at the nearby Electric Lodge Visual & Performing Arts Center which has a dance studio, classrooms and a hundred seat black-box theatre.

Residence Suites:
SOCAPA Resident Students get to experience the luxury of waterside living at one of L.A.’s most desired addresses: Oakwood Marina del Rey. Located next to Los Angeles’ famed small craft harbor, and just across the street from Mother's Beach, the complex boasts a state-of-the-art fitness center, an olympic-sized swimming pool, lighted tennis and basketball courts, a beautiful resident clubhouse, an on-site convenience store and much more. Each two-bedroom, two-bath suite houses four students, two per room, and has a large living room, a spacious patio and even a small kitchen with basic houseware items. Amenities include cable TV, wireless hi-speed internet, and air conditioning.

The Neighborhood:
SOCAPA's Oakwood location is on Washington Blvd, the dividing line for the neighborhoods of Marina del Rey and Venice. The entrance to Oakwood is directly across the street from the marina beach and the largest man-made small boat harbor in the world with about 7000 pleasure boats and yachts. Just across Washington Blvd is Venice, one of the most vibrant and eclectic areas of Los Angeles and Southern California. Venice is world renowned for its canals, beaches and circus-like Ocean Front Walk, lined with performers, fortune-tellers and vendors. Throughout the summer the boardwalk is actively entertaining, featuring accessible boutiques, restaurants and world-class people watching.

Students in the Los Angeles program enjoy the advantages of being in the heart of the filmmaking capital of the world. Chosen as home base by the film industry because of its nonstop sunshine and beautiful scenery, Hollywood has become synonymous with making movies. Not only is Los Angeles the center of the world’s film industry, but it also plays a central role in television, music, fashion and art. Trips are planned to the Walk of Fame, Warner Brothers and Universal Studios (two of the most renowned of the Hollywood studios), the pier, boardwalk and amusement park in Santa Monica and, of course, the beach. Visiting filmmakers and actors from the industry drop by at least once per session to screen and talk about their work.
