International Photo Competition

A call to youth photographers!

Adobe Youth Voices (AYV), a global youth media initiative, and the nonproft What Kids Kids Can Do, Inc. are delighted to announce our first-ever international photo competition.
When written in Chinese or Japanese, the word "crisis" is composed of two characters--one represents crisis or danger, and the other represents hope or opportunity. We have taken this as inspiration for our groundbreaking competition. “Crisis and Hope” offers an exciting opportunity for youth around the world to express themselves through photographs--and make their voices heard--on both what is challenging and what gives hope in today’s difficult world.
Winning photographs will be showcased online, in a traveling exhibit, and in a book. The contest is open to all young people--anywhere in the world--between the ages of 12 and 19.
The deadline for submissions is July 31, 2009. Winners--as many as 30--will be announced by August 31, 2009.
Join us! And please help us spread the word by forwarding this message to friends, colleagues, networks, and organizations that would find it of interest.

Casting Call - Lead role in new Coen Brother's feature film

A casting search for the LEAD role in the new Coen Brothers feature film, True Grit, produced by Paramount Pictures. We are seeking a 12-16 year-old girl for the LEAD role of Mattie Ross. We are looking for a girl who’s tough, strong and tells it like it is. A natural and fierce actress. Description: 14 year-old Mattie is a simple, tough as nails young woman in post-Civil War Arkansas. Her steely nerves and straightforward manner are a shocking contrast to the way women behaved in the early century. She's possessed of true grit and plenty of determination. Enough so, that she insists on going with 2 marshals to hunt down the killer of her father.
We are auditioning people here in NYC over the next 2 weeks. People can also tape themselves (which I can explain in further detail).
