"I wanted to thank you for all that you taught me. Last summer was absolutely awesome and I will always remember it as the summer that I made the final decision to pursue photography as a career. I was just accepted to Rochester Institute of Technology's (RIT) photojournalism department and I can honestly say that SOCAPA is a major reason I am headed in the direction I am now. SOCAPA offers small classes and an accomplished teaching staff comprised of industry professionals

Tom LeGoff (Program Director, NYC, VT):
In his sixteen years working as a professional photographer in New York City, Tom has captured some of the world's most illustirous film stars and in the process created a new iconography. Clients include Spike Lee, Robert Altman, Nick Nolte, Deborah Harry, John Waters, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Jean-Luc Godard, Christina Ricci, Martin Short and Ang Lee. His work has appeared in Rolling Stone, Elle, Entertainment Weekly, Interview, and IFC/Rant magazines to name a few. Originally from Michigan, Tom attended the San Francisco Art Institute before moving to New York City in 1995. Samples of his work can be viewed at www.tomlegoff.com.

Jody Ake (Advanced Photography, NYC):
Jody is a New York based photographer who specializes in fashion, portrait, still life, and landscape photography using the wet collodion process, an historic photographic technique which involves using a large format camera and glass plates. Ake is one of a handful of contemporary artists who have revived this photographic method, hand-mixing all of the necessary chemicals for each and every exposure. Jody's work has been featured in "Photography Antiquarian Avant-Garde" by Lyle Rexer and "The Book of Alternative Photographic Process" by Christopher James. Emily Hart Roth (Digital Photography, LA):
Emily is a professional photographer based in Venice Beach, CA. Her work ranges from capturing the beauty and pride of the California School Gardens to shooting film stills for a documentary about a renowned crew of graffiti artists. Her client list includes: Nina Clemente, Gorgeously Green, CA Farm to School, La Mer Collections, The Earth Friends, Step Up Women's Network and the Environmental Media Association. Galina Kurlat (Digital & Darkroom, NYC):
Galina was born in Moscow and emigrated to the United States shortly after the fall of communism in 1989. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Pratt Institute in 2005, specializing in Photography. Her work has been exhibited nationally and is in a number of private collections. Recent awards include: Critical Mass Finalist in Portland, OR; Photo Media Center Open Juried Exhibition Award in Erie, PA; Honorable Mention in the Prix De La Photographie in Paris, France; and The Art of Photography Show in San Diego, CA. Galina Kurlat
David Gardiner Garcia (Digital & Darkroom, NYC):
David Gardiner Garcia is an up and coming New York based photographer who has an eye, talent and passion for sports and sports photography. He used to race triathlons professionally and is now an avid cyclist and swimmer. David was born in Costa Rica, is bilingual and was educated all over the world at Global College (Long Island University) where he received his Bachelor of Liberal Arts with a focus in photography. David's work is powerful, dynamic and celebrates the moment where light, time and composition all come together to create a poetic moment. Maggie Huber (Digital Photography, NYC):
works as a freelance photographer, photojournalist and a teacher. She graduated from Western Kentucky University and this will be her fourth year as part of the SOCAPA Photography Program. Andrew Katzowitz (Digital & Darkroom, NYC, VT):
Since graduating college with BFA in Fine Art Photography in 2005, Adrew has worked professionally in the photography industry at StyleCaster and Splashlight Studios based in New York City. Andrew specializes in retouching, studio lighting and digital technology. His freelance clients ransge from fashion to portraiture for both web and magazine. He has experience in pre-press and magazine proofing as well as hands-on experience with R.I.P. server proofing including Fuji Final Proofs and Epson as well a knowledge of industry standard CMYK, SWOP and FOGRA profiling.

Beth Bates (Digital & Darkroom Photography, NYC):
Beth Bates received her BFA with an emphasis in photography and printmaking from Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY. While in attendancehe received the Thelma B. Rudey Award for Excellence in Art. As a photographer, Beth's commercial clients include American Lung Association, Common Ground Community, Vanity Fair, Fangoria, and Fox News. As an artist, she has exhibited her work in New York, Hong Kong, and Joplin. Beth is currently in the process of launching her brand of usable artfully made objects called Emblem by Elizabeth M.B. Justin-Paul Vigardt (Digital Photography, LA):
Justin is a graduate of California's prestigious Brooke's Institute of Photography with a degree in Professional Photography and a focus on Industrial Scientific photography. As a freelance professional, Justin specializes in portraits, studio lighting, and location photography. He is well versed in all forms of cameras including 35mm, medium format, 4x5, and video.
