"Excellent program that my daughter really enjoyed... she did the 3 week basic photography. There weren't as many photography kids - a lot of the kids did film. But it was very well organized, and she really liked being able to travel around for different photo shoots during the day with the group (and explore Vermont a bit) and also the ability to go to the small and easy-to-navigate downtown area to hang out with her friends in the evenings/weekends. The balance of organized activities and freedom to explore in a safe area was excellent, and she really enjoyed all of the people. She got a lot of good photography exposure in addition to just enjoying the whole experience."

The teachers/counselors were mature, creative and inspiring; the other campers were friendly, artistic and mutually supportive; the leisure activities were exciting and well-supervised. "My daughter attended this amazing film camp in NYC last summer and absolutely loved it! At first, she was apprehensive about being away for 3 weeks, considering she had never been away from home for longer than 2 nights, but her concerns quickly subsided. By the end, she wasn't ready to come home and would have stayed longer. The environment was very collaborative, and the students' films were highly creative. I enthusiastically recommend this camp to any budding writer or filmmaker."

"Our daughter went to her first SOCAPA camp in NYC as a film student in the summer of 2022 as a fifteen year old, and she's headed back again in 2023 because it was such an AMAZING experience!!!! We live in Utah and don't have a lot of opportunities for teens and the film scene and this really gave her not only a great experience with film, but also new friends and memories for a lifetime. We were so pleased with how it was organized, her security while staying in NYC, and that she loved it so much she wants to go back - thank you, SOCAPA!!!"

"SOCAPA was my daughter's dream- she just couldn't believe she was going to go! And then the world shut down with COVID. She was devastated. But then SOCAPA regrouped and offered an online version. While it obviously wasn't the same as in person, she still got so much out of the experience and made friends from literally around the world. She is going back this year and can't wait. I highly recommend this camp- it fosters such a love of learning and growing their creative abilities."

The acting for film experience she received was excellent, very realistic and intensive. My daughter developed friendships that she continues to maintain. The Champlain College campus environment was safe, modern and allowed the students to foster independence. I highly recommend SOCAPA Vermont."

"I went to the VT 3 week program for acting. My mom found SOCAPA through facebook and after thinking about it for a little bit my parents let me go! When I got there I was a little nervous but then I met my roommate and now my best friend. Through out the three weeks I met many people from all over the world and we all became almost like a little family. I have SOCAPA to thank because if I hadn’t gone to SOCAPA I wouldn’t have met some of my closest friends. During these three weeks we got to be in many different short films and I was even lucky enough to be in a music video! Every day the staff made wonderful meals for us and we had so many different options to pick from. On the weekends our R/A’s would bring us places like the arcade, swimming, and even the trampoline park! On one of the nights we even did karaoke! Through out the week on some of the nights after filming or class we were able to go to church street to eat dinner and go out shopping! The R/A’s treated us like their family and they were so kind! When we weren’t filming or out on adventures we were in class! In our classes we learned so many different skills and techniques! We had an amazing teacher that got us ready for every show case! We would make live scenes to preform at the show cases and it was so much fun!!! Overall this was an experience that I will never forget and i’m so excited to go back for SOCAPA 2022!!! I made so many friends and memories! Thank you SOCAPA! I can’t wait to make more memories!"

"We were looking for a summer camp for my daughter who loves acting and found Socapa. I was a little nervous at first sending her out of state for three weeks at only 13. I’m so happy we sent her it was the best three weeks of her life!!!! They had everything there she needed and we were able to visit. She had an amazing roommate who she now talks to daily! She made friends from around the world they honestly became a little family. They were taken on outings while they were there. Socapa definitely exceeded my expectations!!! I can’t believe what my daughter learnt in 3 weeks!!!! They had a showcase at the end and I was blown away by the work these kids did it was truly amazing!!! The staff was absolutely amazing and they treated the kids like their own!! I wish we would have found this place sooner!!! My daughter can’t wait to go back this summer and we look forward to all the new experience and life time friends she will make!! Sending her was by far the best decision we’ve ever made!!!! "My 13 year old with a passion for photography but very little formal experience and no training went to SOCAPA Vermont for the 2-week Digital AND DARKROOM camp last year. Fantastic!!! They had a great time, especially learning the ways of the elders, in a real darkroom. Sounds like everyone teaching at Socapa and running the thing really love what they are doing, and have a breadth and a depth of knowledge that is impressive. Working artists when they are not there. This camp experience was at the top of our budget range but COMPLETELY WORTH IT. The facilities sounded really good, and the instructors seemed very adept at engaging a mixed-skill level group without anyone feeling bored or rushed. The photos and prints at the end of the summer experience were ample document of 2 weeks well-spent. They work the kids pretty hard, and also have constructive free time. My kid made a number of friends I think they may have for life---good value teens from a variety of places. HIGHLY RECOMMEND...in fact, going back again this year. Only one shortfall: there is no program for moms :("

"My son Evan attended the one week Core Acting Camp in Manhattan last summer, and it was quite literally life-changing. Growing up in rural Nebraska, and involved in community and school theater since an early age, Evan wanted an experience to stretch to new levels and found it in SOCAPA. He learned so much, had great new experiences and made friends that he has continued to be in touch with all of this year. As a parent, I had natural trepidations about his experience so far away from home and the folks at SOCAPA were great about putting me in touch with parents and participants from previous years to find out more about the program and allay any concerns that I had. Staff was unfailingly responsive and helpful before, during, and after this experience. Evan plans to return this summer for a longer and more advanced camp experience."

"I have made some of my greatest friends at this camp. Not only are the teachers absolutely incredible, but everyone is overwhelmingly supportive. Everyone here wants the best for you, and sees potential in every last person. Last summer, I learned more about acting than I have in my entire life. Maddy, my instructor, became one of my best friends. I looked up to her like she was my older, wiser, more knowledgable sister. Not only was she insanely talented, but also very down to earth. She helped me find myself, which allowed me to tap into emotions that I didn't even know I possessed. I strongly recommend this summer camp. The Vermont environment is quite peaceful and relaxing, which allowed me the ability to be able to concentrate on the art I was studying. Especially in the advanced programs, everyone is serious about their work. If you are looking for a summer camp in which you can further a craft that you are truly passionate about, this is the place for you. As an Eagle Scout, on my honor, you can trust me when I say that going here will having a profound impact on you for the rest of your life. Go."

"Both of my sons have attended filmmaking camps there for more than one summer. They returned on their own initiative. The program is organized, well-run, professional, and responsive. The staff and instructors were nurturing, encouraging, talented and inspiring. We have attended more than one showcase and been highly impressed by the caliber of the students' work and their obvious enthusiasm and delight at being together as part of the camp experience. Bonds were definitely formed among them. My sons continue to be in touch with their SOCAPA friends. My oldest son was inspired to apply to film school as a result of his SOCAPA experience. A SOCAPA instructor wrote him a recommendation, and he will be attending a university film school in the fall! I would definitely recommend sending your children to this camp."

"My name is Téha, and I am French. Last year, I attempted the three weeks core acting at Socapa on the Manhattan campus. It was a very interesting experience. Because during these three weeks, we didn't just did some acting technics, but we also shot in different shorts films (that the filmmakers made), and went to two musicals at Broadway. I made many friends from different countries that has the same passion than me, and that was really good because we were helping each other to improves our acting. The class was very various: we did a lot's of improvisation, and some fifteen minutes act scene on a theme that we had to respect. Our mentor also gave us some exercises to do to warm us up before starting acting. I recommend Socapa three weeks core acting to every person that is interested in acting because I'm convinced that you will love it and that you will maybe discover a new passion."

"I had just graduated from my middle school and my mom signed me up for a one week film camp in California because I am super into that stuff. I showed up and was immediately met with open arms and love from the entire staff and student body. The lessons were engaging and absolutely fascinating. I was able to transform a passion for movies and making videos into understanding the process of filmmaking in a very real way. But beyond what I learned, and I learned a hell of a lot, I made friends that I still talk to after two years. After the camp ended, we would group Skype all the time. The bonds and relationships you will make at this camp are astonishing and everlasting. The next year I did the two week camp and met who I would consider some of the best friends I have ever had. I am going to SOCAPA this summer for three weeks this time and I am beyond excited for what’s to come. This place is amazing, please trust me."

"Our 16 yr old daughter Katherine attended the 2-week Core Acting program in LA. She had heard about SOCAPA from a friend who had attended the dance camp in NY the year prior. Not only did she have a great experience at camp she met people from all around the world. The camp broadened her acting skills and gave her a better understanding of how to work in front of a camera as well as with a production team. Not to mention the great excursions into LA. He loved it so much that at 15, he did a two-week filmmaking camp at the Brooklyn campus. This year, he will attend a longer and more advanced camp and is already looking forward to summer. He has made many friends who he keeps in touch with from across the US and around the world. Meeting so many interesting and talented kids and teachers who share his passion has been a highlight for him. He has learned more than we could have hoped for and continues to work on his craft at home. Socapa New York has offered her experience beyond the dance training. She has met beautiful friends, worked with extremely qualified instructors. "The SOCAPA program provided a wonderful experience for my stepson. Although he enrolled at the last minute, SOCAPA extended itself in making accommodations for him. He was able to join two classes, screenwriting and filmmaking, and also participate as an actor in three of the projects. I was impressed by the seriousness and quality of the instruction, the support to the students that the instructors gave, and the diversity of the program itself, which included acting, filmmaking, and photography. Different students participated in different parts of the program, but the mix made the whole greater than the parts. The fact that there were young people from all over the US as well as from abroad added another very positive dimension to the program. There was great camaraderie, and my stepson made many friends from all over the world. He is still in touch with many of them. Although he was a day student, I saw enough through his eyes to know that the students in the residential program were well taken care of in terms of safety — while giving them enough freedom to have fun. All in all SOCAPA provided a high quality learning experience and a great summer."

Taking classes and learning more about photography really taught me who I am as a photographer and how to be even better. The teachers are all amazingly supportive and provide all the tools for you to be the best you can and think creatively. Making friends here is an extraordinary experience because everyone thats here are creative arts students from all over the world who help to build each other up and create a place to thrive. "Honestly such an incredible experience. I've gone to SOCAPA for about 5 years and it is one of the most welcoming places. It's a place were you can get away from any problems you have and just be yourself. I've made some of my best friends at this camp and still keep in touch with most of them today. I've learned an extreme amount at this camp. I found my style at this camp. I've been given opportunity at this camp. I found my dream at this camp. Anytime someone asks me about any good film programs I send them in the direction of SOCAPA because I honestly can't think of a bad experience, from the 5 years that I have, had at the camp. This past summer I interned at the camp and even as an intern I managed to make a film and help other students on theirs. This camp taught me about film festivals and how to get my name out there. All my success in the film industry I owe to SOCAPA and all the wonderful people that come out from it. If you are considering if SOCAPA is worth it? Take my word for it, IT IS."

"Last summer, I had one of the best experiences of my life when I attended SOCAPA for six weeks (three in the filmmaking program and three in the advanced filmmaking program). It truly was an amazing summer and an unforgettable learning experience. I was interested in film for a while, but I had no real experience before I went to SOCAPA, and the program made me realize that film is something I am truly passionate about and that I want to continue doing for the rest of my life. I was nervous but excited about going away from Colombia to New York for six whole weeks, but I never felt uncomfortable while in the program because everybody was extremely nice and helpful. The teachers and TAs were constantly helping you improve and giving you feedback on your work, and they made learning fun and enriching. I also got to meet students from all over the world that are interested in film the way I am, and this created an excellent environment. I want to thank SOCAPA for an amazing, and definitely the most productive, summer of my life!"

"As a parent of a Sophomore who attended SOCAPA’s dance program at the Manhattan campus last summer and will hopefully attend again this summer, I highly recommend the camp. The different art departments and even campuses attend each other’s pre-showcase performances and the groups attend various New York City performances and activities together, making for a very fun, friendly, supportive environment. The variety of evening events is amazing, including things like multiple art venues, a Broadway show, Coney Island, and other local fun spots. And the end of camp performances which include all the art forms are well done and showcase the hard work put in by the students during their days at camp."

"I'm going to keep this short and sweet . SOCAPA is a life changing experience that will make you a better artist, along side a better person . I went to SOCAPA 3 times and each time was better than the last .The connections I made in the acting world were crucial in my development as an actor and the friends I made will be with me for life . SOCAPA's versitle curriculum will prepare you for the real world and will also make you never want to leave the program. Even though the experience I gained as an actor was incredible, the other social aspect SOCAPA offers is truly what made me fall in love. From seeing Broadway shows, to adventuring, and even doing bonding activities with your roommates made the experience different and better than any other summer program. The counselors and teachers are phenomenal, and the classes are fun and interesting. It truly prepares you for the real world and I will value SOCAPA until the day I die. I have nothing but love for SOCAPA, and it is a must if you are an artist looking to expirience the world of your craft and become a better human in general."

We felt blessed to have been recommended to SOCAPA and attended the 1 week Core Filmmaking Camp in Manhattan in the late summer of 2019 after her sophomore year. It was a fantastic experience for her. The program was very well organized, the teaching was top notch and it was the best of the 4 camps she had attended up until then. She particularly like how they were treated as serious young adults who wanted to really learn filmmaking and not children staying busy during the summer with a "camp" . For this reason I feel like their programs are really closer to an academy experience - staying in dorms, serious teaching , etc. than a camp. It is the only program she wants to attend again - The whole program and the NYC experience was amazing , and excellent value, well supervised. She was all signed up for a 2 week session in 2020 but due to COVID was canceled. This year we are so excited they are back and offering in person sessions. She's over the top excited to go back this summer prior to starting college - she will be attending and we will be investing in a 4 week program. She can not wait!"

We were able to travel to visit her twice during her program and received regular calls, texts and videos. The piece I made at SOCAPA (and couldn't have made without) has been to Vidcon, All American High School Film Festival, NFFTY and more, winning several awards along the way. There's no question that it's quite an expensive program, but it helped me decide on my future career and helped me pushed forward as an artist when I didn't know how to get going. The evening activities were great and came with a lot of freedom to walk around with friends. The classes were very fun and have a bunch of good tips and tricks as well as choreography in them. I definitely recommend Socapa to everyone, it is very inclusive and an overall great experience"
