Film and acting students! We’re launching a Semester School in September of 2017, and we’d love your input! The school will allow students to supplement their high school curriculums with one semester of study focused on preparing for film and acting studies at the university level. Courses such as Screenwriting, Directing, Acting, Cinematography, Sound Production, Editing, and Producing will examine all elements of visual storytelling and how to achieve and share truthful performances through the film medium.

Students will share the majority of their curriculum, comprehensively learning about the varied work involved in creating and producing films, but will focus on either filmmaking or acting for the camera as they prepare for their final projects. All students will also stay on track for graduation with their home high schools by taking other more traditional academic courses with connections to visual storytelling.

What Is A Semester School?

Semester Schools across the U.S. offer students immersive educational experiences beyond their classrooms. Each semester school specializes in a particular area, such as the arts, and allows students to engage with explorations of the subjects that most excite them while benefitting from small classroom sizes, a tightly knit residential living environment, and a structure that returns students smoothly to their home schools' progressions of study. The cost of a semester program is comparable to a semester at a traditional boarding school.
