We are thrilled to share some incredible news from SOCAPA alum Dexter Carr, who continues to take the dance world by storm.

From Miami to SOCAPA

Dexter came to New York City from Miami to attend SOCAPA’s Fusion Dance Camp with no formal dance background. He worked extremely hard, kept training, and in 2010 came back to teach dance at SOCAPA in New York City. Shortly after, he joined the original cast of Bring It On: The Musical, on the national tour and on Broadway, and later danced in In the Heights.

Nike’s first dance instructor

In a huge milestone for the dance community, Dexter was named the first-ever dance instructor on the Nike Training Club app. He headlined Nike’s #OwnTheFloor campaign, the brand’s first large-scale campaign for dance, and created beginner dance workouts that bring hip-hop and choreography to millions of people around the world.
