Chosen from over 1,000 entries, SOCAPA alumni Ethan Hoffman-Sadka won Best Overall Film for "Salad" at the All American High School Film Festival (AAHSFF) this fall. Another alumni, Meredith Slifkin, won Best Screenplay with her SOCAPA NYC Advanced Project film "Give & Take," while a third, Molly...
Film festivals are terrific networking tools, and give filmmakers the chance to see audiences' live reactions to their work. During the AAHSFF in October, Molly, Meredith, and Ethan's films were screened at the AMC Empire 25 Theaters in Times Square, an experience that was, in Molly's words, "spectacular." Ethan explained that he hadn't expected to see his film screened in such a large, high-profile environment until much later in life, if ever. At age 18, however, he and other AAHSFF awardees walked the red carpet, and he was able to listen as the AAHSFF audience cheered "Salad."
Meredith, Molly, and Ethan are all still creating films, and hope to pursue film as a part of their future careers. We at SOCAPA wish them and all of our alumni the best of luck!
Special Note: Submissions for the AAHSFF 2016 festival are now open, and free until April 18th!
