Before Don’t Say Good Luck and Dora, these two SOCAPA Advanced Acting classmates were on-screen best friends in Netflix’s hit coming-of-age comedy.
SOCAPA alumni Sunny Sandler and Samantha Lorraine play best friends Stacy Friedman and Lydia Rodriguez Katz in You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, Netflix’s hit coming-of-age comedy directed by Sammi Cohen.
The story
Stacy and Lydia have dreamed of epic bat mitzvahs for as long as they can remember, until a crush named Andy Goldfarb sparks a massive falling out right before the big celebrations.
- Sunny Sandler plays Stacy Friedman, a preteen dreaming of an over-the-top bat mitzvah party.
- Samantha Lorraine plays Lydia Rodriguez Katz, Stacy’s loyal best friend, caught in the middle of the social drama.
- Adam Sandler, Sunny’s real-life dad, plays her on-screen dad, Danny Friedman.
Classmates on and off screen
Sunny and Samantha were classmates at SOCAPA too: both trained in our 3-Week Advanced Acting program in New York City in summer 2023. The film premiered on Netflix on August 25, 2023, just weeks after their SOCAPA session wrapped.
They have kept going since. Sunny now stars with fellow 2023 classmate Scarlett Estevez in Netflix’s Don’t Say Good Luck, and Samantha leads Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado.
